CD Sheet Music is the revolutionary series of masterworks on CD or DVD-ROM that transforms a PC or Mac computer into a virtual music library. Now you can quickly locate, view and print the great works of the classical repertoire. Compared to traditional printed sheet music or music downloads, it is incredibly inexpensive. Original scores are out-of-copyright standard editions from publishers such as Breitkopf and Hätel, C.F. Peters, G. Schirmer, Carl Fischer, G. Ricordi, Durand and many others. The discs also include biographical and analytical information from Grove's Dictionary of Music and Musicians, 1911 edition.
It's never been done before. The Orchestra Musician's CD Library is an unprecedented collection, affording musicians the opportunity to build a personal library of orchestral repertoire at an incredibly low price. The CD included contains the same published parts musicians have been using for many years. If these parts were purchased separately, this collection would easily cost $500.00 or more. Works are viewable and printable on PC or Macintosh. No access code or special software is required. The CD employs Adobe Acrobat Reader technology which is included on the CD.
The six sonatas by Benedetto Marcello (1686-1739) are among the best-known baroque compositions for violoncello and basso continuo, second only to those by Antonio Vivaldi. Marcello was a famous composer during his lifetime, and consequently his collection could be found in printed editions in the major European music metropolises of London, Paris and Amsterdam. Even if there is some uncomfortable fingering in these sonatas - which might be due to Marcello's working with a five-string cello with an added E' string - they are of only moderate difficulty and belong to the standard works of the violoncello teaching literature.
